Starting an exam
Step 1 — get your access code
Your teacher gives you an 8-character alphanumeric code (e.g. AB12CD34).
Step 2 — open the exam-entry page
Open your normal browser and go to your institute's exam-entry URL:
https://<domain>/<institute>/exam-entry/
Your teacher provides the full address.
Step 3 — enter the code
Type the 8-character code in capital letters and click Submit.
Typing the code
Use the code exactly as provided (letters are uppercase). After several wrong attempts you may be asked to solve a simple arithmetic challenge.
Step 4 — authenticate
For built-in (SES) exams:
- You are redirected to your institute's SSO page
- Log in with your institute credentials
- You are returned to the exam-entry page
For external EMS exams you are forwarded to the external quiz after this.
Step 5 — download and open SEB
- After authentication, a SEB configuration file (
.seb) is downloaded - Open the
.sebfile — SEB starts automatically - The exam loads inside the locked browser
Strict time
If the exam uses strict time, you can only enter during the scheduled window — arriving too early or too late blocks access.
Step 6 — start
- The exam interface loads automatically in SEB
- Your session starts when you open a question for the first time
- The timer starts running
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Solution |
|---|---|
| SEB does not open | Install Safe Exam Browser from safeexambrowser.org |
| Code not accepted | Check it is exactly 8 uppercase characters |
| Login failed | Use your institute credentials |
| Exam not available | The exam may not have started — check the schedule |
| Wrong institute | Check the URL contains your institute's slug |
